  花梨木

花梨木爲紅木之一，在我國國家標准5屬8類34種紅木中，黄檀屬-香枝木類，是我國最常見的珍貴紅木樹種，其材質緊密而堅硬，心材明顯，呈紅褐色到深紅褐色，久則變爲暗色，有光澤，顏色美觀，花紋美麗，氣幹密度0.94g/立方，硬度大，幹燥後不變形，不開裂，結構細而勻，耐腐蝕又耐濕，有特殊的香味，且香氣長存，是制作高級家具、精美工藝品等名貴木材，木糠可供制作上等佛香。黄花梨木材名貴，價格達到2萬元/立方以上，且供不應求，有價無貨，用黄花梨木材制作而成的一套家具的價格在20萬元人民幣以上。

花梨木木材質適中，性溫，不變形，有香氣，色呈橙黃，有的紅紫，有似狸斑的深淺相間花紋。明代高級考究的傢俱，多是用黃花梨製作。由於老花梨紋理漂亮，工匠們多採用通體光潔的處理，不作雕飾，以突出木材紋理的自然美，花梨傢俱華麗無比。

Dalbergia odorifera, or fragrant rosewood (Chinese: 降香黄檀; pinyin: jiàngxiāng huángtán; literally: “drooping fragrant dalbergia”), is a species of legume in the Fabaceae family. It is a small or medium-sized tree, 10–15 metres (33–49 ft) tall. It is endemic to China and occurs in Fujian, Hainan, Zhejiang, and Guangdong.

This valuable wood is known in China as Huali and Huanghuali. Higher quality furniture from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties were made of this wood.

Guibourtia coleosperma, aka African rosewood (ambiguous),

large false mopane, Rhodesian copalwood, and machine, is a species of Guibourtia in the family Fabaceae. It is a large evergreen tree (to 20 m tall) found in open woodland and dry forest, almost exclusively on Kalahari Sand in Angola, southern Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The condensed tannins proguibourtinidins can be found in G. coleosperma.G. coleosperma timber has a noticeable smell of menthol.

雞翅木

又稱杞梓木、雞翅木，是貴重木材，出產在西蕃。雞翅木的紋理、色調比較特殊，受光照的影響而產生變化，有暗紅色，也有更重些的紫褐色。這也許就是北京匠師所謂的新老之別。新的木質粗糙，紫黑相間，紋理不清；老的紋理細膩，有紫褐色深淺變化，而且有光澤，如同鸂鶒鳥的羽毛一般漂亮。雞翅木材數量不多，所以，傳世傢俱也較少。

Millettia laurentii

is a legume tree from Africa and native to the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The species is listed as “endangered” in the IUCN Red List, principally due to destruction of its habitat and over-exploitation for timber. Wenge, a dark colored wood, is the product of Millettia laurentii. Other names sometimes used for wenge include African rosewood (ambiguous), faux ebony, dikela, mibotu, bokonge, and awong. The wood’s distinctive color is standardized as a “wenge” color in many systems.

Wenge (/ˈwɛŋɡeɪ/ weng-gay) is a tropical timber, very dark in color with a distinctive figure and a strong partridge wood pattern. The wood is heavy and hard, suitable for flooring and staircase

紫檀木

紫檀木是名貴木材，主要產於熱帶地區的南洋群島，我國廣東、廣西、雲南也有少數生長。其木質堅硬，體重，放在水裏立即下沉。沒有疤痕，呈紫黑色。它的紋理稠密，經打蠟磨光和空氣氧化，逐漸演變成紅紫、黑紫色。色調深沉穩重，有古雅靜穆感。這是紫檀木傢俱的最主要特徵。
紫檀木受到皇家的寵愛，明代官方派員定期赴南洋採辦，皇家儲存了很多紫檀木。直到清代早期，宮廷製作傢俱，使用的多是明代的庫存。清代認為紫檀是名貴木材之首，但是清中期以後，庫存告罄，貨源中斷，紫檀緊缺。所以，清代中期以後的傢俱，多採用紅木替代了。

由於以上硬木密度較高而重；生長期慢，生長成材可能經歷干年以上，再配合精湛入榫工藝，特顯耐用、珍貴及收藏之價值。

Pterocarpus indicus

Pterocarpus indicus (amboine, Pashu padauk, Malay paduak, New Guinea rosewood, or, ambiguously, “narra” which can refer to several Pterocarpus species) is a species of Pterocarpus native to southeastern Asia, northern Australasia, and the western Pacific Ocean islands, in Cambodia, southernmost China, East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia,[3] Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, the Ryukyu Islands, the Solomon Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.[4] Other names include Narra (Philippines), Sonokembang (Indonesia), Angsana or Sena (Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore), Tnug (Cambodia).

It is a large deciduous tree growing to 30–40 m tall, with a trunk up to 2 m diameter. The leaves are 12–22 cm long, pinnate, with 5–11 leaflets, the girth is 12–34 m wide
